School and Workshop info

"The 1st SOLARNET Spring School: "Introduction to Solar Physics" and thematic workshop "Radiative processes in the Sun and stars" will be organized in Wroclaw (POLAND) between March 24 and April 4, 2014. These meetings are supported by EC FP7 project "SOLARNET".

SCHOOL

The school is dedicated to PhD students and novel post-doc researchers, who can broaden their knowledge on solar physics. The lectures and hands-on sessions will be carried out by experienced scientists (M. Carlsson, M. Collados Vera, L. Fletcher, P. Heinzel, A. Kosovichev, S. Regnier, M. Velli and others) and allow students to enrich their knowledge in the field of Solar Physics. The lectures will cover different solar issues:

In addition to the lectures, the "hands-on" sessions are planned. They will allow the participants to develop their practical skills and will be coupled to the appropriate lectures.

During the school there will be some complementary lectures on the practical aspects in the work of researcher.

Besides, during the school each student is supposed to give a short presentation on her/his scientific work (around 15 minutes).

The number of participants of the school is limited to 20 students and the registration fee for school participants is 50 EUR.

The school and workshop are financed from EC FP7 project "SOLARNET". Some funds are available to cover the travel expenses and/or accommodation for lecturers and some students.

THEMATIC WORKSHOP

In parallel with the spring school, the SOLARNET workshop "Radiative processes in the Sun and stars" will be also organized in order to allow the young researchers to participate in splinter sessions and to discuss their research with experienced scientists. The main aim of the workshop is to present and discuss the recent scientific results concerning different aspects of solar and stellar phenomena. Both solar physicists and astrophysicists are welcomed to participate in that workshop.

The registration fee for those, who will only participate in the workshop on April 1-2, 2014, is 30 EUR.
